The challenge
Small and informal businesses around Four Farms and Burgersfort had almost no way to be found online. Residents struggled to see who was trading nearby, what they offered, or which businesses could be trusted.
What we did
Built Legae la Dikgwebo from scratch:
- Brand identity and logo system
- A mobile-first website that installs like an app, in English and Sepedi
- Search with “near me”, business pages, specials and jobs
- Two trust badges: “Verified business” for registered firms and “Community vouched” for informal traders
- Owner dashboards and a back office for reviewing businesses
- POPIA privacy controls and a compliance pack
- Secure hosting set up in South Africa
The result
Platform built, tested and ready for launch across seven areas: Four Farms, Driekop, Burgersfort, Praktiseer, Steelpoort, Mecklenburg and Ohrigstad.
Legae la Dikgwebo, Sepedi for “home of business”, is a free directory of local businesses in Four Farms and the Burgersfort area of Limpopo. People can search for businesses, specials and jobs, then call, WhatsApp, email or get directions. There is no checkout and no fees.
Many businesses in the area trade informally and have never been listed online. So we designed two trust levels. “Verified business” is for firms whose documents have been checked. “Community vouched” is for traders confirmed by a field officer visit or two community references. That way a spaza shop or a home baker can be listed next to a registered company.
The platform works in English and Sepedi, runs well on low-cost phones and can be installed like an app. Owners get a dashboard showing how people contact them. Privacy is built in from the start, with a Privacy Centre, consent records and data hosted in South Africa, in line with POPIA. Tech Trail designed the brand, built the platform and operates it.
